Hypnotherapy
is a process where a hypnotist helps a client enter into an hypnotic trance, for therapeutic purposes. It is commonly used for overcoming sleep and relaxation problems, to dispel fears, anxieties and phobias, to increase concentration and motivation for achieving goals like giving up smoking and similar.
Hypnotherapy is also used for bringing forth material from deeper levels of consciousness, e.g. memories of experiences which may have been buried or lost in the course of time. Such material may then be dealt with, either by means of further hypnotherapy processing or by means of other forms of therapy. Integrating hypnotherapy with other forms of psychotherapy often leads to deeper-reaching, more long-lasting effects and results, than simply using hypnotherapy on its own.
An hypnotic trance is much like the state of daydreaming (in fact daydreaming is a hypnotic state); you are still present and conscious, yet at the same time ‘absent’ and preoccupied within your own mind. It is an inwardly oriented experience of profound relaxation of body and mind, which allows you to access resources at levels of consciousness which are not readily available in a normally awake state.
Hypnosis will at no time make you lose consciousness, or lose control of yourself. The hypnotist cannot control you, or make you do something you don’t want to do, or reveal something you don’t want to reveal. You will at all times be aware of where you are, and what you are doing, and you will only go along with suggestions that are compatible with your needs and your ethics.
Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)
If you are overstressed or giving yourself negative mental messages this has an immediate effect on your body which in turn can result in pain and illness. Many symptoms have some mental association. It is widely accepted that your thinking results in bodily responses.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a behavioral technology, which simply means that it is a set of guiding principles, attitudes, and techniques about real-life behavior, and not a removed, scientific theorem.
It allows you to change, adopt or eliminate behaviors, as you desire, and gives you the ability to choose your mental, emotional, and physical states of well-being.
With NLP, you learn how to grow from every single life experience, thus increasing your ability to create a better quality of life.
NLP is a very pragmatic technology based on an ability to produce your desired results, thus allowing you to become proficient at creating your future!
Counselling & Psychotherapy
Counselling is a process where you, as a client, have the opportunity to explore a particular problem, with the assistance of someone who is not involved in your personal life, and who is trained and experienced in listening and facilitating your own empowerment and ability to resolve your difficulties.
Psychotherapy is a process which allows you to go into deeper explorations of your thoughts, feelings, behaviour and functioning, to increase your self-awareness and to resolve recurring problem patterns in your life.
However, rather than being two distinctly separate modalities, Counselling and Psychotherapy are in reality overlapping and often indistinguishable from one another.
They are both cooperative processes, based on a therapeutic relationship formed between therapist and client, where the therapist functions as a guide and facilitator for the client’s journey of self-exploration.
For a successful outcome of Counselling and Psychotherapy, the quality of this therapeutic relationship is at least as important as the therapeutic techniques and approaches that are employed. It is therefore essential, that you choose a therapist who is right for you – someone who is skillful and experienced, and with whom you feel understood, supported and cared for
Gestalt Therapy
Gestalt therapy is an holistic, mindfulness-based approach to counselling and psychotherapy, which has inspired many other mindfulness therapies ever since its inception in the 1950’s. It draws on the client’s own inherent capacity for healthy functioning, and offers effective ways for the client to uncover their own strengths and wisdom.
In Gestalt therapy the therapist relates to the client honestly and authentically, accepting the client as they are at this point in their life, while guiding them through processes which resolve current issues and provide tools for resolving future issues.
The objective of Gestalt therapy is to enable the client to become more fully and creatively alive and to be free from the blockages and unresolved issues which may diminish optimum satisfaction, fulfilment, and growth.
